Having been healed through Christian Science, and having received much benefit and encouragement from reading the testimonies of others, I give mine to the field in the hope that it. may uplift some weary wanderer searching for the truth that makes free. Six years ago I was taken with a nervous breakdown and lost my position, health, and trade. In Psalms we read: "The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears." The above quotation is applicable to my case. For over a month I did not eat or sleep, and finally when a little sleep did come I feared I would not awaken again. My healing was not accomplished by my own efforts alone, but through the aid of the practitioners who gave me treatment and encouragement at different intervals. For myself I held steadfastly to the thought that God is my life and that there is no death.
The healing was slow, but I can now see that this was to my advantage, as more spiritual understanding was thereby gained. Today I am in good health, eat and sleep well, and am working in a position which requires considerable heavy manual labor, but I do it with pleasure. Periods of despondency and melancholy which lasted weeks at a time were overcome through the study of Science and Health and the Lesson-Sermons. The belief of fear has also been destroyed; formerly I was afraid of everything.
I am inexpressibly thankful to God and to Christ Jesus the Wayshower, also grateful to Mrs. Eddy, that noble woman who discovered the wonderful truth in this age for the benefit of all mankind.— Chicago, Ill.
