From the time that I was a boy of ten years I suffered more or less from attacks of bowel disorder and biliousness. As I grew older the ailments became more aggravated, and I was assured by physicians' that they were chronic. Few people can realize how much I suffered, for after the foregoing afflictions I also contracted kidney trouble and was assailed with rheumatism in all its different forms. The doctors said there was no cure for me, that all they could do was to afford me relief from time to time.
About five years ago I began to have severe nervous attacks along with the other afflictions, and I felt that it was only a matter of time when I should pass on, as the doctors could not help me. In February, 1912, I had a very bad attack and was obliged to remain in bed; in fact, my condition was such that I was not able to get up without assistance. On March 13, 1912, at five o'clock in the afternoon, the doctor told my wife that nothing more could be done for me; but my wife assured me that as a last resort she was going to get a Christian Science practitioner to treat me.
At seven o'clock in the evening the practitioner came, and although I had to be assisted from bed, I had the pleasure of realizing that divine Love meets our every want and need, for my healing was instantaneous. Just forty minutes after the practitioner came to our home, I sat down to as hearty a meal as I ever ate. I enjoyed a good sleep that night, went to my employment the following morning, and have not lost a day since. Before I was healed through Christian Science I had been addicted to the use of profane language, and although I tried hard to refrain from it, my efforts did not meet with success; but since my acquaintance with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, all profanity has left me without an effort on my part. This book is my daily companion.
