Testimonies of Healing

I am grateful for the wonderful...

From the April 1916 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I Am grateful for the wonderful good Christian Science is doing. In my own case, while some ailments have been healed since I took up the study, it was not the physical help so much as the spiritual that attracted me. By looking on and occasionally reading the literature for some years, I came to Science rather slowly. It was difficult to change from the religion in which I was reared, and I wondered if it were right to break away. Loyalty to the old held me in bondage for a long time, until one day I decided to find out the truth about Christian Science for myself and not listen to any one's version; at least, not until I could in a measure grasp enough of this teaching to speak more intelligently on the subject. I went to the reading-room, bought Science and Health and a Quarterly, so I could study the Lesson-Sermon in connection with the Bible, and began not only to read but to study, with the result that I never could go back to the old religion. Christian Science has answered all my problems so far, and I know if I am faithful greater things will come to me.

I am also happy to tell of the far-reaching good our literature is doing, not only in our city but everywhere. I meet a great many people, both men and women, and they tell me of their experiences in traveling through the country, also of how crowded the Christian Science churches are. Frequently they say that they have come to Science through the literature which they find everywhere in the hotels, stations, and trains, work done by the distribution committees, and also by individuals who leave their copies in the seats. Any one can take part in this great mission work, and I am convinced if all the people realized the help they can afford by giving our literature freely, not one copy would be withheld.—
