From childhood I was afflicted with...

From the May 1916 issue of The Christian Science Journal

From childhood I was afflicted with an ear trouble, which became so serious that for months at a time I was unable to hear with that ear. This condition was very annoying indeed, especially in my school work. I was under medical treatment constantly, and although I experienced temporary improvement, the trouble, according to the physician's statement, would never disappear entirely. The drum of the ear was said to be perforated, and for this reason I was not allowed either to take cold baths or to swim, as it was believed it would be dangerous to have a drop of water penetrate the ear.

I have been free from this trouble for a year and a half, this being the result of my own study of Christian Science. The physician under whose care I had been, examined me recently and expressed his great pleasure at the surprising cure. He told me that my hearing had become entirely normal. I would also mention that I have taken cold baths, and have indulged in swimming and even in diving, without the slightest ill consequences.

For this proof of the power of divine Love I am very grateful. Christian Science has brought me much good, both mentally and physically, and my endeavor shall be to prove through deeds the teachings of our revered Leader.—
