I send this testimony with a heart overflowing with thankfulness to God for the many blessings received, and in gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, through whose book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," we gain a demonstrable understanding of Life, Truth, and Love.
About four years ago my daughter, aged nine years, was taken very ill. For a week I read the Bible and Science and Health every spare minute, sometimes reading aloud to her. She was able to come down-stairs and lie on the lounge every morning, and return to her room at night with little assistance. At the end of the week she was out of doors playing, but there was a peculiar swing to the right foot and she did not use the right hand. I tried for two days to overcome this through the truth, but could see no improvement, so telephoned to the only Scientist near by. She said that she knew what the disease was named and would help us to unsee it. My little son then showed symptoms of the same disease and I turned my attention to him. His case appeared in a much milder form, and in three days he was well. One day only did his foot have that peculiar swing. The following day (the girl now being completely healed had returned to school) the boy and I walked to the Scientist's home. He did not realize that he had gone any distance, and we both enjoyed the walk, for we felt that God was very near to us. The children are now pictures of health and happiness.
Not until both children were perfectly healed did I know that the name of the disease through which they had passed was infantile paralysis. I am thankful that my helper did not tell me what it was and that I had no thought to ask her, for had I known at the time there would have been more fear to destroy. The spiritual understanding of the Bible that Christian Science has opened to me has made it a new book. I am very thankful to all who have helped me on my way.— Seattle, Wash.
