I appreciate the opportunity of expressing my gratitude for Christian Science through the periodicals, and hope that what I have to say about my physical and mental condition will lead some one to investigate its teaching. For two years I suffered from lung trouble. Every material remedy at my command was tried, exhausting so-called physical strength and financial means, but still I stood in the "valley of the shadow of death" with only the poor consolation that God might have mercy on me in the hereafter. Then I was led into "the land of the living" through Christian Science. Doctors of unquestionable skill had pronounced me to be in the last stages of the disease and rather strongly indicated that I would not survive it, in view of the other chronic ailments associated with it.
After being in bed for almost a year I was persuaded by friends to procure a copy of Science and Health, and I did so with the expectation that after reading it, if the book sounded logical and practical, I would try to get healed. After reading three days, however, I was instantaneously healed of a stomach trouble of twelve years' standing, and other ailments disappeared almost as readily. With some help from a practitioner I was practically healed after studying for six months; and above all the physical relief was the unspeakable peace of a higher consciousness.
I am grateful to perceive that Christian Science is the scientific and practical explanation of the teachings given to the world by Christ Jesus nineteen hundred years ago. The world is being awakened as never before to the realization that man exists with and is a son of God, and it is a source of pleasure and of joy beyond expression to the student of Christian Science to know this grand truth which Mrs. Eddy has given to mankind.—Independence, Mo.
