Testimonies of Healing

I was led to study Christian Science...

From the October 1917 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I was led to study Christian Science through the healing of my husband. Ever since I can remember I had suffered from severe headache; in fact I did not know what it was to be free from this condition except at night, until I was healed in Christian Science. Chronic female trouble and severe attacks of toothache have also been overcome, and I have been healed of the belief that heart trouble is hereditary. No material means have been employed for our little girl, now six years old, during the past four years, although she has been attacked quite suddenly with sick spells and once with chicken-pox and a high fever. Discordant conditions have always been overcome inside of half an hour through the understanding of the truth which Jesus said would make us free, as revealed by our dear Leader.

Last, but not least, is the spiritual understanding I have gained, which is far above physical healing. For all these blessings I am thankful to God, and likewise grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who has labored so lovingly and patiently for mankind that all may enter into the kingdom of heaven here and now. My healing was accomplished through the reading of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to, the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and has been permanent.—

Before coming into Christian Science I had been treated by not less than twenty medical doctors of different schools for the relief of what was called at that time catarrh of the whole nervous system, also stomach, heart, and kidney trouble, neuralgia, and a few other ailments, besides what is known to medical science as neurasthenia. One of my physicians, an old friend, finally advised me to try Christian Science, saying it was doing lots of good. I soon located a Christian Science reading room, and after receiving some literature and reading it, borrowed Science and Health from the public library and started in earnest to read it. I was using glasses, also a magnifying glass, but after a week and a half discovered one evening that my glasses had disappeared, and upon investigating found that I had been reading three days without either glasses or a magnifying glass.
