It is now about five years since I took up the study of Christian Science, and to say that I am grateful for the benefits received is to put it mildly, I have been healed of stomach, kidney, liver, and bowel trouble. There was also a bunch in my right side that caused me much pain and distress. One physician thought it was an abnormal condition of the kidney; another that it was an enlargement of the liver. After being treated by several different specialists without receiving any benefit, I became discouraged and almost wished for the end. When Christian Science was presented to me, I accepted it as a last hope, and I thank God that I found not only health but a practical religion, which was something I never had before.
My condition began to improve from the first treatment in Christian Science. The healing was slow, but this caused me to strive more earnestly to know God. It was three years before the bunch in my side disappeared, but I am now entirely healed. The desire for liquor and tobacco has left me, and other bad habits also have gone. When I first took up Christian Science the fear of lung trouble was fast growing upon me, as I had constant pain in the lungs and coughed a great deal; but this trouble has entirely disappeared. The tendency to catch cold has been largely overcome, and I know entire freedom will be gained as I advance in the understanding of God and my relation to Him. My health is better than it has ever been.
For all these blessings I am very grateful, as I am for our literature and for the work of our Sunday schools. I am likewise grateful to Mrs. Eddy, and to all those who have helped me to understand this beautiful truth.—Long Beach, Cal.
