Over five years have elapsed since I took up the study of Christian Science. I had been an invalid for more than twenty years, suffering from a complication of diseases, namely, nervousness, extreme weakness, chronic bowel difficulty, female trouble, bronchitis, heart disease, kidney trouble, and an abnormal growth at the end of the spine. I was forced to subsist on a certain diet, and even the food allowed me was hard to retain. Today I can eat with a keen relish and without experiencing any ill effect anything which is placed before me.
I had been given up by several prominent physicians. One of them wished to have me placed in a plaster cast for an indefinite time, but this project I would not entertain. Finally my daughter met a friend who asked why I did not try Christian Science. After mature deliberation I visited a practitioner, and the first treatment brought relief. Continuation of the treatments restored me to normal health, and my weight is now more than before my illness. During those years of invalidism I was compelled to lie down during the day, but now I walk to church and endeavor to assist in the household duties, as we have a large family.
I am sincerely thankful for the spiritual uplift, which enables me to demonstrate that God is an ever present help in all our needs. Christian Science gives to us an understanding of that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus," and it therefore behooves us to endeavor to take up the cross and follow the Master in our daily life, by obeying his precepts and following his teachings.— Dayton, Ohio.
