A number of years ago I became afflicted with acute nervousness, which later brought on stomach and bowel trouble. I tried several physicians, also different methods of treatment, but without getting any permanent relief, and at times it seemed as if I would lose my reason. A friend asked my mother if I would try Christian Science, and I took a week's treatment, but without any apparent benefit. The Sunday following the last treatment I had a very bad attack and was sent to a sanitarium, where I stayed for six weeks but did not seem to improve to any great extent.
About three months after leaving the sanitarium the same friend asked me if I would like to attend the Wednesday evening meeting with her, and I accepted the invitation. The testimonies interested me and a ray of hope seemed to dawn. I attended several services, and finally without any persuasion called on a practitioner. This time I was ready to give up my material beliefs and turn to God, for I saw there was no help for me through material means.
After a few treatments there was some improvement, and I purchased Science and Health and began to study it. At first I did not seem to gain much from the reading, but what little I understood I tried to apply. My healing did not come quickly, as two years elapsed before it was completed, but the spiritual uplift during this time was wonderful. I had never before realized what the infinitude of God meant. After my healing I secured an office position, which I have held ever since, now about three years. Glasses have been laid aside, and a felon on my thumb, which had seemingly become infected with blood-poisoning, was healed through the power of Truth in two treatments.
