The Lord "set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings." This passage from the Psalms expresses most clearly the transformation brought about by a knowledge of Truth, in overcoming not only a condition of ill health but its attendant mental and financial trouble. Every effort had been made to effect recovery from a complication of physical ills, including stomach and liver disorder and spasmodic heart action. Physicians of both schools of medicine were employed and many other healing methods resorted to, but after two years of struggle without even temporary relief it became evident that the limit of endurance had been reached.
Seeing the need so plainly manifest, two Christian Scientists had with much kindness offered an explanation of the truth, submitting their testimonies as substantial evidence of the healing efficacy of this teaching, and while this, to me, new Science of being seemed a logical solution of the situation, I did nothing more than make a mental note of it, resolving to use it only as a last resort. The physician in charge of the case decided that hospital diagnosis and treatment were necessary; but when I was leaving the hospital he informed me that I could not recover; that no one so afflicted ever had recovered.
Finding myself with no apparent means of relief, I put into effect my former resolution by purchasing a copy of Science and Health and calling upon a practitioner for help; and the healing that followed, physical, mental, and financial, demonstrated the all inclusive Principle of Christian Science. Two years later it became necessary for me to undergo a physical examination, and at that time I was declared to be in perfect physical condition and was given a physician's certificate of health.
