I write this testimony with the prayer that it may help those who read it to understand how and why Christian Science is bringing mankind out of darkness into the light, as it has brought me. In May, 1912, I returned to California to die, as I supposed. When I had left there some six months previous, my husband was ill with lung trouble,—in fact the physician had told me he was in the last stages of that dread disease,—and when, after I had been away about three months, he wrote that he had been healed through Christian Science, I could not believe it.
The physician in Denver had told me that I could not live in California, and urged me to remain in Colorado; but I did not heed his advice, for which now I am more than grateful. Upon reaching home and meeting my husband, I at once saw that a great change for the better had taken place in him. He again assured me it was due to Christian Science, and wanted me to go to see a practitioner. I did not have any faith, but to please him I went, and I was healed in two treatments.
My sickness had come through grief, and I was a physical and mental wreck. After my healing I was anxious to know how it had been accomplished, so commenced to read and study Science and Health. I am very grateful for the physical healing, but more so for the spiritual uplift and the understanding of the unreality of all discord. For a great many years I was afflicted with a lame knee, caused by the knee joint frequently slipping out of its socket and having to be put back into place; but this trouble was overcome through reading Science and Health.
