Having been interested in Christian Science for over fifteen years, I wish to give my testimony as to the healing power of Christian Science and the understanding I have gained through the study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Before coming into Christian Science I had suffered from many ailments. There was a growth of some kind on my right shoulder, and this was the first trouble to disappear; then hernia of twenty-five years' standing was overcome, although physicians had told me that only an operation would give lasting relief. These healings took place about fifteen years ago and have been permanent.
Later I was healed of a sore leg, caused from an injury to the shin bone. It was a long time before this condition yielded to the truth, but in June, 1912, all the dead bone came out (three pieces) and the leg healed completely. I had undergone one operation for this trouble and the doctors wanted to perform another, but I told them I would stick to Christian Science and did so. What I suffered from this leg no one knows except those who have gone through a similar experience. Three of our doctors in Fostoria and two of the best physicians in Chicago told me they did not know of anything more to do for me; in fact, they said the leg would never heal up and that eventually I might lose it entirely.
I have also been healed of rheumatism and lame back, which caused me terrible suffering for many months. For several weeks at a time I could hardly get around, so I finally wired to Ohio for help (I was in Las Vegas, New Mexico, at the time) and relief soon came. I have been freed from the taste for liquor and tobacco, besides other bad habits, and for this overcoming of error by Truth I thank God. I used to suffer much from stomach disorder, but all this has passed away. I was also troubled with nightmare, but am free from this affliction too. No medicine has been taken for fifteen years and I am now perfectly well in every respect.
