I am grateful indeed for what Christian Science has done for me and mine. About seven years ago I had what the doctors called dropsy in its worst form. One doctor said I was in the last stage, that the condition was chronic, that I could live only a very short time, and that nothing on earth could help me, so it would do no good to give me any more medicine. The only thing to do was to make me as comfortable as possible.
My sister said I ought to be taken to a hospital, and my family were making preparations for this when the thought came to me to try Christian Science. A practitioner lived a few miles from us and I told my sister I was going to have some one go to see this Scientist and ask her to treat me. My sister was a medical nurse, and she laughed at me, saying Christian Science could do me no good; but I insisted that I was not going to take any more medicine and was going to turn to God for my healing. I asked my daughter to go to this Christian Scientist and ask her to treat me. Treatment was begun and continued for a number of weeks, and my condition improved every day. Then the lady had to go away, so I had absent treatment from another practitioner for several months and was healed.
I am indeed thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for giving us Christian Science. I am grateful for this healing, but words cannot express my gratitude for the many wonderful manifestations of God's love that have come to me through the realization of the allness of God. I have been brought out of several serious illnesses, among which was stomach trouble in its worst form. Above all I am thankful for the spiritual understanding of God, for it has brought great joy into my life.— Thedford, Neb.
