Until five years ago I had never heard anything but ridicule of Christian Science, and considered it something to be let alone. I had never been really well, and just at that time was in very bad health, and in dread of a minor operation which seemed to be necessary to correct an internal condition that caused great suffering. I had always been afflicted with bowel trouble and was obliged to take medicine every night and often in the morning. I also suffered from stomach disorder. One day a neighbor came in and found me in bed suffering severely. She told me of her healing by Christian Science, and asked if I would read her copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I thought it impossible that Christian Science could cure me; but because I was so tired of being sick I consented to read the book, and while doing so the discordant conditions disappeared, except the bowel difficulty, which yielded very slowly. By continued study, however, this also was overcome.
I was sincerely thankful to find myself suddenly well, and immediately began attending the Christian Science services. I soon severed my old church connections and joined the Christian Science Society. I am thankful for the correct understanding of the Scriptures which this religion teaches, and grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for giving us a knowledge of this truth. I have learned that God is the source of all supply, and a very present help in time of trouble, no matter in what form it may appear. It is such a comfort to know that I can always turn to Him for help and get it. About two years and a half ago I had a sudden attack of congestion, and immediately telephoned to a practitioner for help. She came and gave me a treatment, and I was entirely healed in less than half an hour. An attack of sore throat and lungs was overcome in one treatment.
I wish to express my gratitude for the Christian Science periodicals, and the Lesson-Sermons given in the Quarterly. Every day some problem is worked out through the study of the lesson. Having been much benefited by reading the experiences of others, I am glad to send this testimony, and trust it will help some one.— Bay City, Texas.
