Testimonies of Healing

I WANT to express my gratitude...

From the March 1919 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I want to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. We were always churchgoing people, and I united with a church at the age of sixteen, was a Sunday school teacher, and interested in all church work; but I became dissatisfied with my religion. In 1912 a casual remark made by a lady in my presence led me to investigate Christian Science. I was then living in Kentucky. In the spring of 1913 I came here, and began my search for Truth in January, 1914. Since that time there has never been a doctor in my home, nor a dose of medicine taken. I borrowed Science and Health from the reading room and read it through four times. A friend gave me a Quarterly and a pamphlet. As a result of my reading I was soon able to lay aside glasses, which I had worn for years. My problems have been numerous, but have all been worked out in Christian Science.

I want to tell about a wonderful demonstration I had in April, 1915. In going down the steps early one morning my foot caught and I was thrown to the sidewalk. My knee was badly hurt and at first it seemed impossible for me to go on; but that thought was instantly corrected, and I walked to the office, which was thirteen blocks, knowing that God was the perfect healer. At eleven o'clock, when I had occasion to leave my chair, I noticed that my knee was stiff and I was a little lame. I kept right on denying the error, and trying to realize the truth, but at noon I was almost helpless. When it came time to leave I was still very lame and suffering intensely, so the manager wanted to send me home; but I told him I wanted to go by way of the post office, and if I did not feel better when I got through there I could get a street car. But when I finished my errand at the post office, I forgot I had been hurt and walked all the way home. I was so happy that I forgot all about the car. This was Wednesday evening and I walked several blocks to the church that night—altogether I walked fifty blocks that day.

Words cannot express my gratitude for Christian Science. I know that divine Love does meet our every need.—
