Christian science has brought so many blessings and so much happiness into my life that words can never express my deep gratitude for it. After being an invalid for three years, I left my home in Japan to consult physicians in England. Some time was spent in a nursing home, where various treatments were undergone in the hope of curing the trouble, but at the end of the course the condition was worse, and I was told that even if the state of health improved, there would be no complete recovery, a strict diet must always be adhered to, and it would be impossible for me ever to take strenuous exercise. This verdict cast me into the depths of despair; but "man's extremity is God's opportunity," and although I knew nothing about Christian Science, remembering the wonderful result it had in curing a friend, I turned to it as a last resort and was instantaneously healed.
No words can express the joy and comfort that came to me as the practitioner explained the Christian Science idea of God and man. From that moment all medicines were put aside, I ate heartily of anything set before me, and the next day walked several miles, thus proving that Christian Science annihilates the so-called laws of materia medica with the law of God, good. This healing came eight years ago, and since then I have not experienced a day's illness; whereas before knowing of Christian Science, never a week passed without my spending some part of it in bed. My children have been quickly healed of bronchitis, measles, and dog bite.
For all the physical benefits derived through Christian Science, I am indeed thankful, but more grateful for the understanding of God as Principle, a God who is Love, the knowledge of whom brings to us the peace "which passeth all understanding." All the happiness I have in life I owe to Christian Science, and my heart goes out in loving gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for giving to the world this glorious truth, the truth spoken of by Jesus when he said, "If ye continue in my word,...ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."— Kobe, Japan.
