I would like to add my testimony to the many appearing in the Journal and Sentinel, and trust that it may help some one who is struggling for more light. A few years ago I lost consciousness while sitting at my desk. The doctors said it was caused by complete nervous breakdown. After many examinations by the medical profession I was informed that I had a severe stomach disorder and eye trouble. I was fitted to glasses and told to wear them for life, was put on a strict diet, and had my stomach pumped out every few days. Finally I was forced to give up my position and go from one specialist to another and from one sanitarium to another, at great expense, until at last the doctors said nothing could be done for me and that in six months I would either be dead or a raving maniac.
At that time Christian Science was brought to our attention, but I had very little faith in it, basing my thought on criticisms I had heard of it; however, I did not want my people to think they had not tried everything for me, so asked for treatment. In a very short time I laid aside my glasses and have never had them on since. The stomach trouble disappeared in two or three months, but the nervous condition seemed to hang on. When the practitioner told me that I was not doing my part and that I would either have to do my duty or get another practitioner, I awoke to the fact that I had been after the loaves and fishes only, so began to study earnestly and to pray for that Mind to be in me "which was also in Christ Jesus," and the result was immediate.
We are adding a little to our knowledge of God every day, and as we look back can see great progress. The peace and joy that comes through the study of Christian Science is wonderful and inexpressible. We are now really living, and have indeed been blessed.— Dallas, Texas.
