Before accepting Christian Science I was serving an "unknown God" to the best of my understanding, seeking but not finding peace. I was subject to attacks of acute lumbago and tried every material treatment I heard of, including bathing in hot springs, without effecting a permanent cure. Finally when seized with a very severe attack which kept me in bed, I appealed for help in Christian Science and was healed in a few hours, although a hundred miles from the practitioner. This healing aroused me to the study of Christian Science, in which I have progressed, and am now able to overcome many erroneous conditions through my own understanding of the truth.
While I was working in a quartz mine a piece of quartz lodged in my eye. It was impossible to remove it, either by my own physical efforts or by the efforts of those who were with me, but finally with the realization of the truth of being, the obstruction disappeared. One day a drop of diluted acid, oil of vitriol, flew into the eye. The pain was intense, but by the realization of the omnipresence of God the healing was instantaneous. The most severe test came when a piece of steel or rock struck the corner of the same eye and cut the eyeball. The sight became blurred, but I declared the truth and through the realization of the omnipresence and protective power of divine Love, the eye was instantly healed.
For these and many other demonstrations I am sincerely thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy. My greatest desire is to attain that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus." I am truly grateful for Christian Science, for class instruction, and for our periodicals, which are my constant companions.— Danville, Wash.
