For years there seemed to be a void in my life. Until I was old enough to think for myself, I had accompanied my mother to church; but as I grew older and read the Bible and understood it better, I found that I did not enjoy the services and after a while I refused to attend but tried to obey the instructions of Christ Jesus as given in Matthew, "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."
I went to the services of many different churches, of as many denominations, but could not find one that I could cling to. Again I made my Bible my refuge and guide, and in January, 1920, a strong desire for more understanding guided my footsteps to a Christian Science reading room. There I borrowed that wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. My husband, who knew nothing of Christian Science, asked me to read a chapter to him, which I did, and immediately I realized that I had found that which I had been seeking for years. I at once felt the spiritual uplift, as did my husband, and on the following Wednesday evening I attended the service and have attended every service since, many times accompanied by my husband. We are so grateful that we have found a church home. In time I finished the reading of Science and Health, and each day I am learning more of God as divine Love.
In the early part of May, I had a severe attack of nerve exhaustion and was completely prostrated, but on doing my mental work, as I had learned to do it in Christian Science, I was very soon restored to perfect health and strength. For six years at the autumn season I had an attack of hay fever, lasting from eight to ten weeks each year. The latter part of August of this year I had another attack, but again I worked out my problem with the result that in two weeks' time every trace of the condition had passed, much to the surprise of my relatives and friends. I am so grateful for this wonderful demonstration, for through this healing my mother and brother have become interested in Christian Science. My whole life is changed. Quiet reigns where unrest once dwelt, and fear has been replaced by confidence. What were once the cares of life have become pleasant duties, and I now know I am being regenerated through Christian Science.— New York City, New York.
