Although we have been studying Christian Science for four years, and enjoy membership in a Society as well as in The Mother Church, we have never had a testimony published in the periodicals. It is with humility and deep gratitude to God that I testily to some of the many benefits received through the study of Christian Science. My wife and I were led to the truth, not for any physical healing, but because we had never been satisfied with the teaching that God is the author of both good and evil, and evidently mostly evil, for He was credited with the authorship of all unhappiness, sickness, and death, which we had been taught were for our benefit, or chastisement. Christian Science has taught us that God is Love, the author of good only, and to live rightly for the joy of righteousness instead of from fear of the belief in a devil.
In the four years of study we have had many proofs of God's goodness In man and we are grateful for the knowledge of absolute Principle, for a sure foundation on which to build our understanding of home, business, and health,—for the knowledge that God is Life and that "Life is without beginning and without end" (Science and Health, p. 168). I have been healed of catarrh, influenza, acute indigestion, and many minor ills. I am thankful to God and grateful to Christ Jesus the Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, who rediscovered the truth and made it available to all who earnestly seek it. I am also grateful for the help given by Christian Scientists.— Parksley, Virginia.
I am happy to verify the above testimony and would like to add my own. After having had proof that Christian Science is the truth, it soon becomes one's most earnest desire to learn more of its teaching. The wonderful sense of assurance with which we are able to base our daily living on the truth, to know, not merely to hope or believe "that all things work together for good to them that love God." and to obey the First Commandment is a constant source of joy to me. To know that the promises in the Bible are just as true for all time as is the mathematical statement that two times two equals four, is more precious than rubies, and Christian Science proves this to us so clearly that we can never doubt it again. It makes us feel constantly as did David: "My cup runneth over." I am so grateful for its teaching, for the new outlook on life, and for the peace "which passeth all understanding," in comparison with which the physical healings seem only a small part.
