In giving expression to my deep...

From the October 1922 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In giving expression to my deep sense of gratitude for Christian Science, the words of our great Master, Christ Jesus, come to me, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Every healing in Christian Science is the fulfillment of that promise; and it was surely in an hour of great need and despair that this truth about God's love for man reached me.

My health seemed to be breaking rapidly from what is known in medical practice as a nervous breakdown; and fear and despondency had so consumed me that I was unable to eat or sleep. On several occasions Christian Science had been presented to me in a manner that led me to believe that it was rapidly becoming a great power for good in the world; and when I finally became willing and ready to accept it for myself. I was quickly and permanently healed. Several discordant conditions were overcome almost immediately, among them the use of glasses which I had worn since childhood.

I am sincerely grateful to God for the many blessings which have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science; grateful for the daily peace and happiness I feel through showing more love to my fellow-man. I am deeply grateful for the life and teachings of our Master, Christ Jesus; and for our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who in her wisdom and self-abnegation was able to present this truth to the world in a way so simple that the little child can readily grasp it.—
