It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I give my testimony for the many blessings that have come into my life since I took up the study of Christian Science, six years ago. My first healing was of stomach and bowel trouble of twenty years' standing. I was very much discouraged; for I had tried every known remedy, and to no avail. Just from the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was healed. Since that time the Bible, Science and Health, and our Lesson study have been my constant reading. It helps to spiritualize our thoughts, and we thus gain a better understanding of God's wonderful blessings.
Two years ago this winter I had quite an experience. I fell very heavily on the cement walk, on my left side. Two men passing by helped me up, and asked if I were hurt. I said, "No;" and declared the truth to myself, knowing that since God is All and ever present no harm can come to one of His children. I picked up my parcels and umbrella, came home, and did my work as usual, with no feeling of soreness or pain. In the evening, I walked several blocks to church, gave a testimony, came home without any discomfort from the walk, and slept soundly all night. In the morning, there was not a vestige of soreness or discoloration.
For all of these and many minor demonstrations of God's protecting care, I am more grateful than words can express. Another manifestation of God's ever-presence came to me while pruning my rose bushes. A large thorn caught between my fingers and tore the flesh very severely. To mortal sense the pain was intense, but I asked God to help me; and in trusting Him, and knowing there is but one infinite Mind, God, and that no harm can come to one of His ideas, I was instantaneously healed; and the hand gave me no more trouble. It seemed wonderful; for before coming into Science I always had great fear of blood poisoning. I did not have to call a practitioner for any of these healings.
