Testimonies of Healing

What a glorious revelation to this...

From the December 1923 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What a glorious revelation to this century, to know that the dream of materialism is fast waning, and that Christian Science can lift every one from all thought of self, fear, and limitation, when rightly applied! Christian Science came to me many years ago, when I was practically an invalid. My first and only thought was of self; fear was my constant companion; and my knowledge of God was indeed limited. As we all know, "man's extremity is God's opportunity;" and I did not prove any exception to the rule. So when Christian Science was offered me by a gentleman connected with my husband's business, I joyfully accepted it; and from that time to the present day, I have tried to the best of my ability to live up to the Tenets of the church, as we are taught them on page 497 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

It is almost impossible to write in detail of my innumerable healings; but I should like to speak of one in particular. Many years ago, after treatment by eight physicians had been unsuccessful, my husband took me to Chicago to a prominent physician for medical attention, hoping that I might thereby regain my health. The only salvation the doctor offered me was an operation, and he warned me not to lift anything, even so much as a chair. Since being healed in Christian Science, I have learned that the only operation is the activity of divine Mind, and that God is indeed the only physician.

Although I am very grateful for all my physical healings, it is a great comfort to know that Christian Science is just as efficacious when one is suffering from a belief in limitation. Before I was interested in Christian Science, my husband was so worried about my physical condition that he was mentally unfit to conduct his business properly. Doctors' bills, as well as other indebtedness, poured in from every source, until the future held very little encouragement for him. How different he feels today! To quote his exact words, "I owe my success in life to Christian Science." Consequently, we have no further cause for anxiety from the belief in limitation, as we are taught that God is our only source of supply.
