In 1909 my husband caught a bad cold, to which we did not at first pay much attention. However, it grew worse, so that he was frequently compelled to stay in bed. The doctor diagnosed the trouble as chronic bronchial catarrh and asthma. We sought healing far and near, but medical aid was of no avail. Thus my husband suffered many years. One day in 1916 he said he thought his end was near. On that very day I had heard for the first time of Christian Science. The following Wednesday evening I attended a testimony meeting. Shortly afterwards I went to a Christian Science practitioner and asked for treatment for my husband, which was lovingly given. A second treatment followed; but even before this a quick healing had taken place. Eight years have now passed, and my husband is glad that he has been freed from this ailment and that we both have found the true faith.
In 1917 our daughter was in a finishing school in French-speaking Switzerland; and one day she wrote home that she suffered great pain in her legs, that she could neither stand nor walk, and that she wrote those lines in bed. I again asked for help, and she received absent treatment. After two days the report came that she had been able to get up the following morning, and that the pain was gone. In the spring of 1917 I too fell ill. After one treatment my severe trouble disappeared entirely. Christian Science has helped us in many other extremities. Our home, over which had hung black clouds for many years, is now filled with the sunshine of Love.
