It is now about three years since I first heard of Christian Science. For a long time before, I had not attended any place of worship; but one Sunday morning I saw a friend who was going to church, and in answer to my inquiry she said she was going to a Christian Science service. She had no time for further explanation but said, "Come and see; there is an evening service also." My thought dwelt on this all the morning; and as I had a very high opinion of my friend's judgment, I went to the service in the evening. I understood very little, but I felt nearer to God than ever before. Soon afterwards a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was lent me; and I became fully convinced that at last I had found the religion I had been hoping and longing for.
At first I knew nothing of the healing power of Christian Science; but I have been healed through it of a stomach disorder from which I had suffered for more than thirty years. At times this trouble was most distressing, and I had advice from many doctors. Several times I lived on milk and chemical foods for six months without any lasting result. This trouble has been entirely overcome through Christian Science, with the loving help of a practitioner, who gave me great encouragement during some very dark days. Other ailments have been overcome without any help but the study of Mrs. Eddy's writings, together with the Bible.
Christian Science has brought me many blessings; it is my daily help and guide; and it is reforming my character, making me a different, but a better woman. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel to God for leading me to this beautiful truth, and to Mrs. Eddy, who through her consecrated life gave it to the world so that all may understand.—, Brighton, Sussex, England.
