THE Psalmist sang, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so;" and the prophet Isaiah declared, "The ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."
Among the definitions given in Webster's dictionary for the word "testimony," two read as follows: "Witness;" "A solemn declaration or affirmation made to establish or prove some fact." In the Manual of The Mother Church (p. 47) Mrs. Eddy writes: "Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases.'" Not only did our beloved Leader make loving provision for her followers, through the Wednesday evening testimony meetings and the authorized Christian Science periodicals, to bear witness to the fact that the Christ, as demonstrated in Christian Science to-day, heals sin, sickness, and all manner of discords, but she gave to the world in her writings accounts of her own healing.
One may find many loving invitations in the Scriptures, especially in the Psalms, to bear witness to God's healing power. Suppose one who has had a healing through the application of Christian Science be unlettered: this should not deter him from blessing others by relating his experience, either at a Wednesday evening meeting or through the periodicals. Many students can, no doubt, remember the time when they were released from the mesmeric influence of fear, which perhaps had held them in bondage all their lives, by glorifying God at a testimony meeting. Christian Science reveals the fact that fear is one of the chief causes of our troubles. This being so, then whatever helps to overcome fear proves a blessing.
