We read in the thirty-third chapter of Exodus, "My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." This divine presence was wonderfully proved to our family a few years ago when our house was struck by lightning. Although the house was seriously damaged, none of the inmates, including our dog, were injured in the least. We know that if it had not been for the consciousness of God's presence and protection at the time, there would have been a different story to tell.
It is over nineteen years since I first read some of the Christian Science literature. It seemed very hard at first for me to get an understanding of Science. Matter seemed very real,and I had to pass through many sad experiences before I realized that thought governs everything. Our two children are now grown to young womanhood and young manhood, and have never known any other help than Science. Neither one has ever taken any medicine. Science has met their every need. Both pneumonia and scarlet fever in severe forms were overcome through Christian Science when they were small.
I am deeply grateful for the understanding I have of Christian Science. I cannot tell in words the help it has been to me since I gained in some measure an understanding of God and man's relation to Him. It means much to one when he realizes that God is not a corporeal God, away off somewhere, who has to be implored to do things for us, but that He is a presence always at hand,and that just to the degree we purify our thought and strive to live a life of love we are in that presence and conscious of protection. I am deeply grateful for all the blessings that have come to us through Christian Science and for the revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who was pure enough to see the truth and give it to us today.— Altadena, California.
