From the November 1927 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At an early age I began to seek an understanding of the Bible and how the commandments therein were to be obeyed. My questions were not answered by Sunday school teachers and ministers. I was told the majority of things were not to be fathomed on this plane of existence; but having a keen sense of logic, I refused to take these answers as final, supposing at the time I would just have to discover the truth myself. I therefore read the Bible and lived in accordance with its teachings in so far as my meager understanding allowed. I felt that there was a "key" to divine healing, but where, I was at a loss to know, though I never lost hope of finding it.

I investigated many different religions, but gained no satisfaction from the teachings of any; so one may know with what joy I welcomed the proposal to study Christian Science, which I was told could more than answer my questions. However, I had much to unlearn, and my realization of many truths came slowly; but I can say I have found not only a religion that answered all my questions but one that answers my every need in ways I never even dreamed of.

With or without the help of a practitioner I have been able to overcome coughs, colds, and the need of an operation which three physicians said I must have, even though the relief to be gained therefrom would not be permanent.
