Christian Science has been my only physician for many years, and I have received many healings and many blessings through its application. Last summer I had a healing which I am so very grateful for that I wish to pass it on, thinking it may be of help to others.
One day I was taken with very severe pains in my arm. I thought little about the difficulty at first, simply dismissing it knowing that God did not send it. But the pains kept returning and becoming more severe each time, until I seemed forced to tell a member of my family. He immediately called it neuritis, but it did not seem like that to me. I seemed to be surrounded by a great sense of envy, jealousy, and resentment, and a general misunderstanding of my motives and acts. I began to search my own consciousness first, and there found a great deal of resentment. I was able to overcome that rather quickly by knowing, as we are taught in Christian Science, that there is nothing really to resent, since God is good and God is All, and since evil therefore has no reality. I also saw there was no cause for envy and jealousy, since there is an abundance of good for all, if one is only ready to receive it and will look to God for it. I tried to know, too, as Mrs. Eddy says on page 469 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" that "the exterminator of error is the great truth that God, good, is the only Mind." After declaring these truths for many days and nights I began to feel a great sense of peace, and I again began to sleep soundly at night. I also began to feel stronger and more active, and finally awakened to the fact that I had no more pain. This healing has meant very much to me, for it has taken away my inclination to criticize and condemn. It has also given me a greater, higher, and broader sense of compassion and loving sympathy for my fellow-men.
I never cease to be grateful to Mrs. Eddy for giving to the world this practical religion. I also wish to express gratitude for the Christian Science church. The first time I entered the beautiful new church of which I am a member, the first thought that came to me was, What a haven of rest this will be to many a weary traveler! But I have found that it is not only in the large, beautiful churches that one finds rest and peace and healing, but wherever two or three are gathered together in God's name.
