Testimonies of Healing

I first read the Christian Science...

From the April 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I first read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, out of curiosity. It so impressed me as giving one an understanding of God and His law which, if put into practice, would meet all one's needs, that I resolved to try it without mentioning the fact to anyone; and if I could not prove it to have nothing more to do with it. After a period of a good many years I am still proving for myself and others that the right understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him does destroy all false beliefs and does bring an abundance of health, harmony, and peace into one's life. While the physical healings mean much, the mental healings mean far more. We cannot realize the need for such until the searchlight of Truth reveals so much that is unlike God. Resentment, impatience, selfishness, and impure thoughts are seen as the cause and not the effect of inharmony.

I am especially grateful for the understanding that separates error from God's idea, man. It is helping me to have more love and less condemnation for my brother-man. I have never had a tonic equal to the understanding of the all-presence and power of divine Love and the consequent realization of the unreality of error and evil. I was warmed, comforted, and strengthened, and have come to know by actual demonstration what Jesus meant when he said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

I am very grateful for understanding that, as the reflection of God, I express divine intelligence and ability; that all that can ever fail is a belief in a material selfhood and mind apart from God, divine Mind. I am grateful for all the healings throughout the world that have resulted from the understanding of Truth and Love revealed in Christian Science: for the happiness and peace that have come into the life of untold numbers; for our literature, which is leavening the thought of the world.—
