I had reached a state where unhappiness, discontent, resentment, self-pity, jealousy, and hatred seemed to reign supreme; and not liking it, and finding no solace in my religious connections, I began asking questions about Christian Science. The loving Christian Scientists I approached always gave such sweet and consistent answers, and were so compassionate with my problems, that I realized they possessed something true and livable.
Very soon I purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began studying. In about two months a very dear one passed on, and I asked for Christian Science treatment, little knowing what great comfort and love were to sustain me. The beautiful work accomplished by the treatment given at that time is still unfolding, and that was over five years ago.
Being a trained nurse I never expected to need Christian Science for physical healing, but soon I had to take my stand for medicine or Christian Science, and there was not a moment's hesitation in choosing the latter. In a short time I was completely healed of a severe attack of sciatic rheumatism. Later, strangulated hernia was healed instantaneously; and burns, sick headaches, indigestion, catarrh, fainting spells, and sprained ankle have all yielded to Truth as explained in our textbook. These are a few of the physical results ; but how can I tell of all the mental changes? My language, thoughts, desires, and the atmosphere of home are all being elevated, and I am learning to love my neighbor truly, to be contented and charitable. Is not this real cause for rejoicing?
