[Original testimony in French]

In 1923, when I was in the valley...

From the May 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In 1923, when I was in the valley of the shadow of death, I first learned of Christian Science and all its blessings. Having been greatly overworked in order to provide for material needs, I reached the last stages of tuberculosis; the right hip was completely dislocated and the right side seemed lifeless. Although I always had a firm faith in God, our Father, my religious beliefs and knowledge of the Bible were entirely perverted by materialism. Faith alone sustained me; and whatever suffering attacked me, this faith in God was sufficient to prevent my becoming bedridden, and I could walk with a cane.

I received absent treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. I can say that the practitioner's letters were a great encouragement to me, for which I remain sincerely grateful, although at that time I did not fully grasp their significance, which seemed beyond me; but the difficulties around me were so great that her letters were the more appreciated, for all others who saw me had given me up.

After a correspondence of five months light dawned upon me; then I worked alone, trusting myself completely to Christian Science. Progress became more manifest, attended by peace and multiplied blessings. To-day I do all my various household tasks ; a walk of four kilometers no longer tires me; I have had class instruction, and am a member of The Mother Church. I express my gratitude to God for the wonderful revelation which He has given us, first through Christ Jesus, then through his faithful follower, Mrs. Eddy.
