Before I reached the age of twelve years, a little neighbor asked me to attend a Christian Science Sunday School with her. Shortly afterwards I enrolled as a member, and had the privilege of attending until I reached the age of twenty. During those years and the ones following, or for about eighteen years, I have been ill only a few times, which proves that Christian Science is not only a curative but a preventive.
At the close of one of our Wednesday evening testimony meetings, a number of years ago, I experienced an immediate healing, for I was truly ''healed in the selfsame hour." A very ugly and painful blood boil had manifested itself upon my chin. I merely mentioned this condition to one of our Christian Science practitioners, and she uttered only one sentence; but it so uplifted my thought that I was indeed "absent from the body, and . . . present with the Lord." The healing was so complete that it was not until the following day I thought of the condition again, and realized I had been healed. I was healed within one week of influenza; and at another time when seemingly needing help, within one hour after asking for relief I received it.
I had a healing one winter which meant much to me. At that time there seemed to be present much physical pain, which was slow in yielding to the word of Truth. But the suffering made me search more diligently the Scriptures with the aid of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy; and I thereby gained a higher understanding of God and my relationship to Him. To the faithful practitioner, who so lovingly helped me at that time, whatever hour of the day or night she was called upon, I am truly grateful.
