GOD'S THOUGHTS

From the September 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

David was convinced of God's constant care when he sang: "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand." This surely is an acknowledgment of the allness of Mind. The Psalmist not only was aware of the unlimited, unceasing activity of divine Mind, but he also knew the nature of the thoughts of this Mind. When he called them "precious," he realized their tender, holy quality, and placed the highest value upon them. One can readily infer that he treasured God's thoughts to him above all else, and was conscious of their abundance.

Was David singled out for God's special attention? Peter corrects such a false impression when he declares, "God is no respecter of persons." Then did not David, rather, perceive and accept for himself what God impartially bestows upon all? It is impossible that anyone or anything can be omitted, or overlooked, or neglected in divine knowing. And this knowing, which is wholly good, must provide perfectly and adequately all that is necessary to existence.

Health is considered essential to the well-being of man. Could all-harmonious, all-loving Mind conceive of and provide anything but healthy, harmonious conditions for the objects of His affection? What satisfaction to know that God is holding man constantly in this perfect, harmonious state! Perfect health is one of God's precious qualities, and His law unfailingly maintains it. That health is altogether a condition of divine Mind should be obvious. Little children readily perceive the mental basis of health. When an elementary class was asked, "What is health?" these replies were given: "To be kind;" "To be loving;" "To be happy." Such thinking is Godlike: it is of God, and consequently healthy. Many a healing has resulted from discarding false beliefs of evil, unkindness, and hate for right thinking, kindness, and love.
