[Written for the Journal]

FELLOW MESSENGERS

From the September 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Ah, sweetly blooming little flower,
You humbly grow,
And give the world the message true
Which all must know,
That God's the power to unfold
Each thought, each leaf, each bud of gold;
But you must listen and obey.
So shall I, each God-given day,
Grow just like you,
Sweet flower.

Ah, joyous, grateful little bird,
You bring to me
God's message for my daily need,
So full and free.
As you upon the tallest tree
Do swing and give your best to me,
Just so must I my call obey,
And sing and work, and watch and pray,
Ah, just like you,
Dear bird.
