Having read many helpful testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals, I should like to add mine in the hope of helping someone else. I had been ill for years, never entirely free from sickness and at times bedfast. I had sought help from many physicians and tried every remedy suggested to me, as the suffering at times was intense. One day a friend asked me why I did not try Christian Science, at the same time giving me some Christian Science literature, which I read and thought beautiful. I laid it aside and seemed to forget all about it until a recurrence of the disease came upon me with unusual suffering. I found the name of a Christian Science practitioner in the telephone directory, and asked for immediate help and a visit. The practitioner came within a short time, and after a conversation the work of healing began. In less than an hour she told me to get up; that I was healed. I thought that very unreasonable, as I had been in so much pain; but I obeyed and found it true that I was healed. That was twelve years ago, and there has been no return of that condition. Since then Christian Science has met my every need.
Another healing which occurred about eight years ago was of a very severe attack of sciatic rheumatism. This healing was accomplished after much study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, a thorough application of what I had previously learned, and a desire to know more of God and of man's relationship to Him. I could not walk for some time without the aid of a cane, and was bent over. Within three weeks of present daily treatment the cane was abandoned; and when I learned to rely altogether on Truth and realized that divine Love sustains man, I was healed. My gratitude no human words can express. I am grateful to our loyal practitioners for their patience and faithful service. My desire is to show my joy by right daily living. I love all the literature, and am thankful for all blessings; grateful that I am a member of a branch church and of The Mother Church, and also for the privilege of expressing gratitude at all times.—Litchfield, Illinois.
