It is several years since I first took up the study of Christian Science. During this time I have had many blessings, physical, financial, and spiritual. I was told by physicians that I would never be well, as I had an internal ailment for which there was no cure. However, after having treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, I was healed of the condition in about three months. This healing proved to me that God does meet our every need, and I was ready to trust Him in all things. I was very happy, and wanted to learn how my healing had been brought about. I joined a Christian Science Society and entered into the work. Sometime after this I was elected substitute Reader. I read when called upon, but error argued that I did not want to do this work. So I listened to it and resigned, saying to myself that someone else could do it much better than I could. After this the struggle began, and error manifested itself in the form of inflammation and hemorrhages. These conditions caused me intense suffering. I had help from several practitioners, and got relief— but not healing. I knew there was a way out of this suffering, as God had healed me many times before. This erroneous condition continued for four years, so I asked God to show me what to do and how to do it. The answer came to me to go back and work in His vineyard, to do His work. So I began to attend the business meetings and take an active part in the work. Again I was elected substitute Reader. This time I accepted gladly. I was called on to fill the First Reader's place the following Sunday, and I shall never forget the sense of peace and spiritual uplifting I received during my study of the Lesson-Sermon that week. I realized then that I was healed of the condition with which I had been struggling for so long. This proved to me that when I was ready to do God's work, the healing took place.
