The sixteen years and a half since my entrance into Christian Science have been the most fruitful and satisfactory ones of my life. I am able to express only in part the depth of my gratitude for this angel-visitant, the Comforter which Jesus promised; and for our dearly loved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, through whom God brought to remembrance those sacred truths long neglected.
While I was casting about for some means of relief for a sister who, owing to a complicated and serious physical condition, was in urgent need of help, Christian Science, like a flash of light out of dense darkness, came to the rescue. This dear one was healed, and because of my desire to encourage her in going on with the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I also began an earnest study of this treasured book. The result was that in a short time I was liberated from a hereditary malady which had proved fatal in our family in past generations—Bright's disease. I had been told by the physician who diagnosed my case to adhere strictly to the diet outlined by him. This I did until a few months after beginning to read Science and Health, when I threw off the restraint of dieting; and with one or two treatments from a Christian Science practitioner the healing was accomplished.
A copious volume would be necessary to record even a part of the blessings manifested to me and to my family. I am grateful for Christian Science and for each and every avenue through which it is being disseminated throughout our own and other civilized lands; and with the sweet singer in Israel I join in saying, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits."—San Francisco, California.
