With this testimony I wish to express my gratitude so that others may learn that Christian Science really does heal, and that it heals permanently.
For twenty years I suffered from a serious abdominal complaint, heart disease, stomach trouble, bowel and bladder complaint, and, as the doctors called it, general nervous prostration. I was always under medical treatment. I was told that I could never be well again, and that if I did not undergo an operation the worst might be expected. I could not decide to undergo an operation and turned to homeopathy. For nineteen years I was treated by specialists, took medicine daily, and lived according to a strict diet, until I reached the point where I thought the best thing for me would be to die. But "man's extremity is God's opportunity." A dear friend called my attention to Christian Science and she gave me a copy of Der Herold. I read it at once from beginning to end, and was instantaneously healed of inflamed varicose veins.
The next day I attended the Sunday service. It was Easter Sunday, 1921. I shall never forget the sense of peace I felt on hearing the wonderful Lesson-Sermon. The words, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," remained in consciousness, and I felt and knew that now I had found the truth, and that the truth would make me free. Then I turned to a Christian Science practitioner. It was explained to me so lovingly that God is Love alone, and that He knows nothing of sickness, neither does He send it, and that we, as His children, need not suffer if we rely upon Him, that I awoke from the dream that life, substance, and intelligence are in matter to the understanding of a new heaven and a new earth, wherein everything is good. And this truth made me free. In five treatments I was healed of all those complaints. To-day I am better in health, and happier, than ever before. We have received many other proofs of the power of divine Love.
