I have indeed much to be grateful for. Christian Science has given me a healthy, happy viewpoint, courage to meet the many situations that arise in contact with the world in professional life, and harmonious living conditions in a happy and contented home experience.
One morning when I awoke, these words of Christ Jesus held my attention, as I gratefully pondered their meaning, "Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace." The day continued to be one of continuous physical activity, and not once did it occur to me that a little specific clearing of my own mentality would be wise, until nearly midnight, when, as I was about to retire, a violent condition of fever and sore throat caused me to feel that I should like to speak to someone who would help me. The only member of the household who was at home, however, had retired some time before and was sleeping quietly; so I quickly decided that I should take this problem to God and know the truth for myself. In a few moments I remembered the experience of the morning, and thought again of the beautiful statement of Jesus quoted above. Then the definition of "faith" as given by Mrs. Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 23) came to my thought. After less than an hour of steadfast thinking along this line the entire condition was broken. I did not sleep at all that night, but was grateful to rest quietly in active thought. The next day, while I was away from home, weakness tempted me just for an instant; but instantly the realization of strength as infinite, ever present, and just as powerful as it had been in the preceding night, came to me, and I was enabled to continue through a day of joyous activity with no manifestation whatsoever of anything but good gained from the whole experience.
I am indeed truly grateful for the great privilege of class instruction; for all the literature which our Publishing House provides us with daily, weekly, monthly; and for membership in The Mother Church. I am especially grateful for the Manual of The Mother Church, in which our Leader so wisely sets forth the fullest protection for the organization in the individual self-government of its members.—Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
