I seem always to have known about Christian Science, for my grandmother was one of its early students, but I did not really begin to apply its wonderful teaching to problems for myself until I was hard pressed. When, on a particular occasion, I turned whole-heartedly to God for help, I was instantaneously healed of a trouble for which I had been told there was no help but an operation; and in over twenty-one years there has not been the slightest return of the difficulty.
Since that time many wonderful healings have taken place in our little family. I should like to tell of the healing of one of my sons who had all the symptoms of tuberculosis. A practitioner was asked to help, and from the first treatment he began to improve. Every symptom vanished; he put on weight, and went in for all of his school sports. At the same time his school work improved so that he had excellent marks, whereas before they had been low. At the same time his whole character seemed to undergo a change. From being unhappy and easily discouraged, he became the happiest boy imaginable. From then on, his friendships were all with young people of fine character, and he developed a singleness of purpose and reliability that made him looked up to by all who had any dealings with him.
I have been healed of frequently recurring sick headaches by turning vigorously to Christian Science during a severe attack and rejoicing, when it seemed for the moment as if I had nothing to rejoice about. Then the thought would come that I could certainly rejoice in the knowledge that I was a child of God, and almost immediately the pain would stop. This was over three years ago and I have not once since been kept in bed with this trouble.
