Christian Science has met my every need for eighteen years. I have been healed by it of nervousness, sick headaches, a badly broken foot, fevers, influenza, and colds. My eyes have also been healed. I was told by oculists that I would always have to wear glasses, but I ceased to do so about seven years after taking up the study of Christian Science. The healing came through my own understanding without any actual work being done by a practitioner. I have not worn glasses since that time. I have also been healed of many unlovely traits of character, and have learned many beautiful lessons in meekness, humility, brotherly love, and have gained a clearer sense of true forgiveness.
Our children have been healed of mumps, measles, sore throat, chicken pox, and many other so-called children's diseases; and an infected foot was also healed. We have many times proved the truth of Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 494 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Many beautiful demonstrations over financial needs have been made, for which I express my deep and sincere gratitude.
I am especially grateful for a wonderful healing which came to our little ten-year-old daughter. She had a stiff neck, her body seemed twisted, and there was great pain. The pain was so intense that she could not lie down or rest in any position. Work was taken up for her by a Christian Science practitioner, but the condition seemed unchanged. On the afternoon of the third day she pleaded with me to do something for her, and I told her we had done all that we could and must leave it to God. At once the question came to me, Had we really done all that we could? The answer came in a way we had not thought of: Were we really grateful for Christian Science? I knew that I had not expressed even the smallest amount of gratitude during this trying period. We began at once to thank God for past blessings which we had received, and for other blessings we had heard and read of which had come to others; and we then thanked God that, in reality, she was perfectly well at that moment. The healing did not take place then, nor did the pain cease, but all sense of fear was destroyed. That night, when error seemed at its worst, I repeated to her the twenty-third psalm and we tried to understand and to apply the meaning of it. When I again looked at the child, she was asleep in my arms. I laid her down and she turned around into a natural position and slept the rest of the night. The pain was gone when she awakened, and the physical manifestation disappeared sometime during the next day. Words can never express our gratitude for this healing. Ed-wardsville, Illinois.
