I have had many healings through Christian Science, and it has brought into my life many blessings. The first healing was that of foot trouble. The doctor advised me to wear arch supports, but they did not improve the condition and walking only short distances made me very tired. After wearing them for over a year, with no benefit, I heard of Christian Science. A short time afterwards I decided to leave off the supports. From that day to this I have been able to walk long distances in perfect comfort without feeling the slightest fatigue. I am very grateful for this healing, and also for another that took place recently.
I awoke one night with severe pains in the back. They were so intense that I could not move enough to put on the light, although it was near my bed; so I thought of all the good I knew, and toward morning I fell asleep. When I awoke it was time to get up, but the intense pain was still there, and for a few moments I wondered whether I ought to call someone. Then these words came to me: "Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 385). As I was a children's nurse, it was my duty to get up and do certain things for a child in my care. With these thoughts I was able to arise and do what was necessary, although the pain still persisted. I stuck to the truth and knew that God would heal me if only I was patient enough. The next few days other ills seemed to be manifested. I could not eat or sleep; a cough also developed, my throat being very sore and the stomach very hard and swollen. For a fortnight I did not know what it was to be free from pain for a moment. During this period I studied Science and Health in all the spare time I had. As these ills did not seem to disappear, a dear friend took me to see a practitioner. Help was lovingly given, and I was soon able to see the way of Truth more clearly. After the third visit I was completely healed.
I am very grateful to God for this healing and for a greater understanding of the straight and narrow way which leads to eternal life.
