THE HARP

From the January 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Mortal mind is the harp of many strings, discoursing either discord or harmony according as the hand, which sweeps over it, is human or divine."— Science And Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, page 213.

Yes, this is the harp of many strings,
And this is the song it can play—
A swift little song of the trembling joys
In a too brief yesterday.

But, Lord, Thou hast given a better song
And a firmer hand on the strings,
That we may play for the weary ones
Some sweet and enduring things.

And we shall be happy in playing on,
When we see that their eyes are glad—
The weary ones and the sinful ones
And the ones who are frail and sad.
