HEART'S DESIRE

From the January 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

O Love, whose everlasting rays
Are seen in depth and height,
Illumine us in all our ways,
Our thoughts to heavenly mansions raise,
And clothe our faith in sight.

No faith but must be found in Thee,
No thought apart from Mind.
Within Thy kingdom no distress,
No poverty or loneliness,
No sick or halt or blind.

Oh, grant, indeed, that we may dare
To find our love in Thee.
Give us an understanding heart,
To know Thy glory e'en in part,
And share Thy purity.

Oh, strengthen every feeble hand,
Renew our waning zeal.
Awaken in our slumbering thought
The need to think as Jesus thought,
To heal as he could heal.

When shadows fall and day grows dim,
Oh, grant that we may see
That man is holy, clothed in light,
The heir to everlasting might
And deathless sovereignty.
