Testimonies of Healing

I wish to express my gratitude to...

From the January 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express my gratitude to God for revealing to this age the scientific meaning of His Word; to Christ Jesus for demonstrating the spirit and power of God in overcoming sin, sickness, and death, and for saying that all who believed on him could do the same works and greater; and to Mary Baker Eddy for walking so close to God that she could receive this truth and give it to a world hungering for the right understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him.

My first healing was of constipation from which I had suffered four years, during which time there had been no action without material aid; and there was no action for six days previous to my first treatment in Christian Science. My next healing was of acute chronic indigestion and stomach troubles; the next was of severe cold and grippe, which were overcome in one day by my own work; the next was of a sprained ankle and instep. In ten minutes there was no sense of pain or soreness, nor was there any afterward. My next healing was of erysipelas when at its worst. This was overcome in one day, so that not even a trace of it was left. Another healing occurred when boiling jelly went all over one of my hands.

When I was on the Lake of Bays, in Canada, in 1913, it seemed necessary to know the cause of a condition which I had been working on for some time. A hospital nurse diagnosed the condition as cancer. Lest fear should enter my heart, I wrote to the first practitioner who had treated me in Christian Science asking her to take up work for me. One phase of the condition was healed in the first treatment, but another phase took four months to overcome. One year later it returned. This time I wrote to a student of Mrs. Eddy regarding the case. After receiving her reply I gave myself a treatment. The condition was healed, and has never returned. At another time, when I was on Muskoka Lakes, an aggravated attack of summer influenza was overcome in twenty-four hours.
