I wish to express my sincere gratitude...

From the January 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express my sincere gratitude for all the blessings I have experienced through the study of Christian Science. I was healed of sick headaches with which I had been troubled for many years. The ailment was met through my own work, and I have always been grateful for this demonstration. I have had many healings through Christian Science, but have not always been able to work them out by myself. At times when error and fear were too much for me, I have been most grateful for the loving help of practitioners; and when I have been obedient in doing my part, I have always received my healing.

One healing for which I shall always be grateful occurred while in charge for nearly a month of a small boy who was staying in the home and who had developed a so-called contagious disease. Being a very active person I had always said that I could not stay in the house more than one day at a time. The child was out of bed in three days, but we had to stay indoors for some time afterwards. It was then proved to me that I could stay in the house every day without any inconvenience.

There were times when anxiety and the fear of staying alone at night tried to darken me; but the work of a loving practitioner soon destroyed that which was not real, and I was free to go about my work. I am indeed grateful for the freedom from a false sense of responsibility which I had carried for ten years; but not until false pride and mental suffering were overcome, was I free.
