"AS HE THAT SERVETH"

From the December 1932 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is recorded in Luke's Gospel that Jesus once said to his disciples, "I am among you as he that serveth." Can a member of the Christian Science church find a better motive than that—"as he that serveth"? And the Christian Scientist needs constantly to demonstrate these words of our Master in his organization work. Justice, mercy, and love will characterize his thoughts and acts if his pure desire to serve is their incentive.

Let each determine that no error shall ever enter the Christian Science movement through him. Let each one's daily living furnish a proof that there is more love actively expressed in that movement than there was before he joined it—love that is a spiritual radiance, a token of the kingdom of God shining from within!

As earnest Christian Scientists we are striving to surmount all error. We need to realize that just as mortal mind claims the physical organization, which it mistakenly calls man, to be subject to discord, so does this same so-called mind insist that all organization, such as the human symbol of Church, is subject to false ambition, willfulness, jealousy, and political methods.
