My heart is full of gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me during fifteen years' study of this wonderful truth. Four years ago I was healed of a birthmark as large as my whole hand spread out. At the same time two small moles disappeared from my neck. I did not have treatment for either of these inharmonious conditions, but a Christian Science practitioner had given me one treatment two months previously for an entirely different problem. Mrs. Eddy says on page 371 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Truth is an alterative in the entire system, and can make it 'every whit whole.'" This birthmark had been on my body fifty-five years, and while it was not painful and did not cause me any discomfort, I am more grateful than words can express for this healing. It is just one more proof that time (a mortal concept only—never God-created) cannot hinder the power or operation of Truth.
My first healing in Christian Science was that of a cancerous tumor after medical men and specialists had said that nothing except an operation would give me relief. I was very much discouraged with religion as I knew it and did not attend church regularly. A man from Canada, who was not a Scientist but was a deep student of the Bible, advised me to try Christian Science, and even borrowed Science and Health for me and brought it to me to read. I kept it only one day; then I bought one. The next day I got in touch with a practitioner. All I wanted was my healing. I did not know I had to let the kingdom of God, Spirit, into my consciousness before I could have my healing. The practitioner worked for me about three months; and it was a happy evening for me when I first glimpsed the truth. In all these fifteen years there never has been the slightest return of the trouble.
I have had many proofs of God's loving care and protection. Eight years ago I was healed in one treatment of a slight degree of deafness. At this time I was also healed of the inability to memorize. I have experienced the healing of a very badly dislocated knee by Christian Science. This was accomplished after five days' absent treatment, after I had lain in bed six days before calling a practitioner. In two hours and a half after the practitioner's fifth treatment, when the knee snapped into place, I was able to get up and walk down a flight of stairs and help to put the lunch on the table. It has never given me any trouble since and is absolutely normal. My neighbors all marveled at such a perfect and quick healing without splints or a surgeon's attention. This occurred over twelve years ago.
